Now you can order a movie AND a take-away straight from your smart-TV

BRITS lounging around at home this weekend will, for the first time, be able to order food AND a film at the same time through an app on your smart-TV.

From Wednesday, hungry movie buffs can order their takeaway with “one-click of a button” if they have a Samsung or LG TV.

Samsung is the second major TV manufacturer to adopt foodnfilm onto its smart-TVs

The Foodnfilm app will be pre-installed on Samsung TV’s operating system, enabling millions of customers to order from a range of takeaway favourites including Indian, Chinese, pizza and burgers, and they’ll also be able to choose a movie to watch.

Customers can track their orders in real-time, while simultaneously watching a movie of their choice, all within one app.

Foodnfilm has already partnered with food delivery independent companies including Shinobi Sushi and Carshalton Grill, as well as popular chains such as Basilico.

While the app is installed on the TV at no extra cost, users will have to pay for the food they order as well as the film they rent or buy. The app currently has around 100 films on its database, but this is expected to increase over the coming months.

Samsung is the second major TV manufacturer to adopt foodnfilm onto its smart-TVs, with LG being officially announced last month, meaning the app will now be available on more than seven million smart TVs.

Leslie Golding, founder and CEO of foodnfilm, said that television is now taking the next step in its journey by entering a market once dominated by mobile devices.

He said: “Our app is available on millions of televisions across the UK, providing restaurants and delivery companies with a new route to market, while allowing users to order popular takeaway cuisine and other convenience items for the first time on the big screen.’
